This page explains how we handle your footage, photos, audio, personal info, and final videos. It covers ownership, privacy, permissions, copyright, AI use, storage, and our limits of liability.

This Media Policy governs the handling, processing, usage, storage, publication, and distribution of media assets provided to, created by, or derived from services rendered by Highlight Lab ( “we,” “us,” “our”). This policy applies to all clients, athletes, parents/guardians, and any individual or entity submitting media (“User,” “Client,” “You”). This Media Policy forms part of our Terms of Service and is binding upon purchase.
You keep ownership of all footage you shot or legally have permission to use. You are responsible for having the rights to everything you send us.

Users retain full copyright ownership of any raw media they produce and submit, provided they are the lawful copyright owners or have obtained all required licenses and permissions. By submitting media, the User warrants that they have the legal right to use, share, distribute, and authorize Highlight Lab to process the media. Highlight Lab assumes no liability for unauthorized or unlawful submission of third-party materials.
We need permission to download, cut, edit, and export your footage in order to complete your project.
In Legal Terms
The User grants Highlight Lab a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to download, access, reproduce, adapt, edit, transform, store, and output derivative works based on the submitted media solely for the purpose of fulfilling the purchased services. This license terminates upon delivery of the final product, except for archival and portfolio purposes described herein.
We may use your final video in our portfolio unless you tell us not to.
In Legal Terms
Unless revoked in writing, the User grants Highlight Lab a perpetual, non-exclusive license to display the final deliverable(s) for marketing, portfolio, website, social media, and promotional purposes. This license does not include resale or sublicensing. Users may opt out at any time; Highlight Lab will remove the media from future use but is not obligated to remove versions already circulated.
If the athlete is under 18, a parent or guardian must approve any footage submitted.

Where submitted media contains identifiable minors, the User represents and warrants that they are the parent/legal guardian of the minor or possess explicit written consent from said parent/guardian. Highlight Lab disclaims any liability arising from unauthorized submission of minor-involved media.
If someone else filmed it, like a school, sports organization, livestream, or broadcaster, you must confirm you are allowed to use it.

The User is solely responsible for ensuring that media obtained from schools, leagues, tournaments, livestream companies, broadcasters, scouting services, or other third-party entities is legally licensed for reproduction and derivative editing. Highlight Lab disclaims all liability arising from unauthorized use of institutional or broadcast-owned footage.
We avoid using copyrighted assets without permission. If you request copyrighted music or logos, you must prove you have the rights.

Highlight Lab uses only properly licensed, royalty-free, or original media assets unless the User provides proof of licensing. The User acknowledges that any request involving copyrighted or trademarked elements requires valid authorization. Highlight Lab assumes no responsibility or liability for infringement caused by User-directed inclusion of protected materials.
We use AI only for organizing and improving the clarity of footage, not to create fake plays or alter athletic performance.
In Legal Terms
Highlight Lab may use AI-assisted tools for tagging, categorization, stabilization, noise reduction, upscaling, and other non-destructive enhancement tasks. Highlight Lab does not fabricate, simulate, or materially alter athletic performance. Highlight Lab shall not be liable for any misinterpretation of AI-processed footage by third parties.
We keep your files securely for about 60 days after delivery, then may delete them. You should download and save your files.
In Legal Terms
Highlight Lab stores User media in secure, access-controlled digital environments and retains files for a minimum of 60 days post-delivery unless otherwise stated. Highlight Lab is not obligated to maintain long-term storage and disclaims liability for deleted or unavailable media after the retention window. Users are responsible for their own permanent backups.
If your files are unusable, we’ll tell you. We’re not responsible for playback issues, missing footage, or low-quality source files.

Highlight Lab shall not be liable for delivery delays or compromised output resulting from corrupted, incomplete, or poor-quality source media. Highlight Lab may request replacement files; failure to provide them may impact timelines. User-submitted media is processed “as-is,” and Highlight Lab disclaims warranties regarding output quality when source files contain inherent defects.
Our videos do not guarantee scholarships, recruitment, or social media traction.

Highlight Lab expressly disclaims any representation or warranty that deliverables will result in athletic recruitment, scholarships, awards, exposure, viewer engagement, third-party interest, or performance outcomes. Services are editorial in nature and do not constitute endorsement, evaluation, or representation.
We don’t send your video to coaches or programs.
In Legal Terms
Highlight Lab does not communicate with coaches, athletic departments, agents, recruiters, or external evaluators unless explicitly authorized in writing by the User. Highlight Lab assumes no liability for third-party interpretation, redistribution, or use of the deliverables once shared.
Our responsibility is limited to the editing work you purchase. We are not liable for footage rights, delays caused by you, lost data, or platform outages.
In Legal Terms
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Highlight Lab’s liability is limited to the total amount paid for the specific service. Highlight Lab shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, or special damages including, but not limited to, loss of data, reputational harm, institutional action, copyright claims, or damages related to User-submitted media.
We may stop a project if the footage is illegal or violates our policies. Refunds follow our refund rules.
In Legal Terms
Highlight Lab reserves the right to suspend or terminate services if User-submitted media is unlawful, unsafe, defamatory, harmful, or violates this Media Policy. Refund eligibility is determined by Highlight Lab’s Refund Policy. Highlight Lab is not obligated to complete work involving legally compromised material.
If we update this policy, the new version will appear here.
In Legal Terms
Highlight Lab may revise this Media Policy at any time. Continued use of services following publication of updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
